I brought in my Honda Fit fairly confident that my machinist friend and I had narrowed down my car troubles to a failing alternator, but an hour after dropping it off I got a call from Tom stating that the alternator, battery, starter, etc. were all working just fine. He asked if I had taken it somewhere and was told it needed to be replaced, and his tone had an air of "who lied to you"? I'm a woman but I know cars to a decent degree, even if my pitifully neglected Honda says otherwise, so I've had my fair share of cases of mechanics and service advisors trying to give me the run-around and not listening to what I tell them. Just ask Doug at the Honda Dealership; he knows what he did. It was refreshing to get a call saying what DIDN'T need to be done, instead of a laundry list of things that supposedly DO need repair. The belt was in good condition but had a bit of a squeal, so a replacement was recommended, and I'm ashamed to say I had to admit to Tom that I was well aware that I was long overdue for an oil change but had forgotten to mention it (just like I'd forgotten to get it done for 5k miles), but with those services I was on my way, time and money saved. Highly recommend them and they'll definitely be my go-to in the future.
